Ooooohhhhh! Man thats a nice bike! Last year the motor wasnt tied to the frame too... makes it easy for number switchin.
this REALLY is the perfect birthday present........
wowzers...I've really been feeling sportsters lately.
Very cool. I have a '72 so I'd like to check it out.
BTW, The engine and the frame do have the same VIN #. Harley started doing that in '70. Trust me I also have a '70 FLH.
Huh... that's weird. My uncles '71 doesn't have a number on the frame anywhere. And I know it's not hot, he's owned it since '71. My '73 has a big lug on the right side downtube right under the neck casting that has the vin number stamped in it. I read it on a website a while back too. www.sportster.org/history/. I thought it was the gospel since my uncles '71 didn't have a vin on the frame and my '73 did. Should believe everything you read on the internet I guess... I stand corrected.
Yes, 1969 is the last year for no number frames. ALL harleys after 1969 have a frame number. In Daytona they have cops walk up and down the beach checking frames, vin fonts and things like that. If they see sketchy numbers or no numbers they'll take the bike if you don't have some stupid form.
